Lower seeds make noise in Tuesday state playoffs

10th seed Matawan scores an upset win at #7 Ocean behind freshman John Buekers.  SSZ has highlights of the Huskies win along a huge game for Terence Callandrillo and RBC along with the Red Bank Regional girls reaching the second round of the state playoffs

Clarke drops 26 to get Cougars to second round of SCT

Brendan Clarke’s 26 point effort helped Colts Neck to a 71-59 win over Matawan.  SSZ has highlights of the Cougars win and all the first round scores and second round matchups in the Shore Conference boys basketball tournament

1K scorers and buzzer beaters up for Game Ball

Middletown South’s Alexandra Balsamo scored her 1000th point and delivered a buzzer beater in one game.  The Eagles have another buzzer beater thanks to freshman Jack Anderson.  Both athletes are among the 18 nominees for this week’s Monmouth Building Center Game Balls.  Cast your votes now through Tuesday at 3:00 pm
