Wondrack blasts field to win HR Derby

Wall High School catcher Dan Wondrack put on a big league display of hitting at Lakewood’s First Energy Park dominating the field to win the Shore Home Run Derby.  SSZ tracked the Wondrack bombs at the home of the Lakewood BlueClaws

Wall catcher Dan Wondrack was the runner-up in last year’s Shore Home Run Derby, but in 2015, there was no doubt who the long ball champ was.  The College of Charleston signee dominated a field of Monmouth and Ocean County long ball hitters to win the friendly competition at Lakewood’s First Energy Park.  Wondrack blasted two in the opening round, but it was the second round where he exploded, blasting seven homers.  He needed two deep balls to win it in the finals and delivered to get a grand total of 11.  Toms River South’s Jake Ryan was the runner-up with three total homers.  The other 9 competitors combined for 8 three less than Wondrack. Besides the high number, nearly every one of his homers were titanic blasts in the professional ballpark.  See the display and reaction below:

Monmouth and Ocean play to 2-2 deadlock

Colts Neck shortstop Sam DeVitis made a diving play with the bases loaded to preserve a deadlock.  The game featured seniors from Monmouth and Ocean County.  Watch the highlights from Lakewood’s First Energy Park:
