Watch full highlights and post-game reaction of Manasquan’s 53-48 win over Saint John Vianney in the Shore Conference semifinals

BRICK – Marina Mabrey battled through foul trouble to score 22 points to help Manasquan defeat Saint John Vianney 53-48 in the Shore Conference girls basketball semifinals.  The Warriors will face Saint Rose in the championship game after the Purple Roses eliminated Middletown South 59-40 in the first semifinal.  Manasquan staked out to a 19-6 lead after one quarter, but Mabrey picked up three fouls in the first half and the Lady Lancers cut the deficit to 24-20 at the half.

In the 3rd, Mabrey picked up her 4th foul with 5:03 to go in the quarter.  Senior Courtney Hagaman provided a huge spark with four three pointers and kept the young Warriors calm and poised with their star on the bench.  Kelly Campbell had 25 points in a losing effort and helped SJV storm back from double digits in the 4th quarter.  A Campbell layin made it 48-46 Manasquan with one minute to go.  Stella Clark hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final 60 seconds to put the game away.

* a note to Saint Rose fans – we apologize for not having highlights of the Purple Roses semifinal win over Middletown South.  Unfortauntely, a bad memory card in our camera forced us to leave Brick Memorial High School to fix our technical difficulty.

This will be the second meeting between Saint Rose and Manasquan.  The first game was a thriller won by the Purple Roses in Belmar 60-57.  In case you missed it check out the highlights to get you ready for Friday’s final at 6:30 pm at Monmouth University:
